Oncology & Infusion Services
Liberty Regional Medical Center, in partnership with St. Joseph’s/Candler and the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion, brings advanced cancer care services closer to home for patients in Hinesville, Liberty County, and the surrounding region.
About the Program
Liberty Regional Medical Center and the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion at St. Joseph’s/Candler have partnered to provide medical oncology, chemotherapy, and infusion services for Liberty County cancer patients.
This partnership was made possible through the support of the Liberty County community, which helped raise more than $400,000 to bring needed chemotherapy and medical oncology services to the area. The program includes a new oncology space on the Liberty Regional campus and the recruitment of Dr. Ajaz Bulbul, who is board certified in Oncology, Hematology, and Internal Medicine.
The program works collaboratively with medical staff at both Liberty Regional Medical Center and St. Joseph’s/Candler. Patients benefit from local care at Liberty Regional while also having access to the expertise, resources, and clinical teams of the Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion.
Clinical Effectiveness Teams
Clinical Effectiveness Teams are made up of physicians with related specialties and support personnel who meet regularly to review individual cases and help guide best practices for cancer treatment.
St. Joseph’s/Candler has multidisciplinary teams for the following areas:
- Breast Cancer
- Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancer
- Genitourinary (GU) Cancer
- Gynecologic Oncology
- Head and Neck Cancer
- Neuro-Oncology
- Skin/Melanoma
- Thoracic/Lung Cancer
Better Access to Cancer Care and Clinical Trials
This joint venture provides patients with access to the expertise of the National Cancer Institute’s Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). Through this connection, patients may have easier access to advanced cancer services, clinical trials, and research opportunities closer to their local community.
